The Community Chaplaincy Norfolk charity is looking to appoint a new Co-ordinator to organise and lead the work of the charity, oversee volunteer mentors and work with clients in prison.

Hours: 20 hours per week
Salary: £12.50 an hour
Based at: St Stephen’s Church, 2 Rampant Horse Street Norwich
Overall Purpose of the job:
- To organise and lead the work of CCN
- To oversee the training and work of CCN volunteer mentors
- To identify and interview suitable prospective clients in prison.
- To build positive relationships with allied and relevant agencies, especially the local prison chaplaincy departments.Context
- The work of CCN is to encourage ex-offenders to live positive lives and make new beginnings. Each client is to be supported by a volunteer mentor who meets with them regularly to support them in their efforts to turn their lives around. Mentors support clients in their applications for voluntary opportunities and employment, training or education, helping them to rebuild their relationships with family, friends and the wider community.
- The post holder will need to be in sympathy with the Christian ethos of Community Chaplaincy.
- Due to the nature of the post, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken. Therefore applicants must declare whether they have any past or pending charges, convictions, cautions or bind-overs, and if so to provide full details. This post will be exempt from the provisions of Section 4 (2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exemptions) (Amendments) Order 1986.
- To lead the work of CCN
- To build on the relationships at St Stephen’s Church. To work closely with the Vicar and staff members to ensure that CCN works in harmony with other projects at the church.
- To maintain and build positive relationships with both statutory and voluntary agencies. E.g. prisons, probation services and other allied agencies.
- To engage with volunteers on both an individual and group basis. To be available as needed to provide support to volunteers.
- To see that reports for funders and for Trustees are produced.
- To work with the CCN Finance Officer and be aware of budget limitations.
- To work to the Policies and Procedures of CCN
- To have knowledge of and implement Health and Safety requirements relating to tasks being performed for risk to self, volunteers, clients and their families.
