As from 31 July 2022 Rev’d Matthew Hutton DL has stepped down from chairing the Trustees of CCN, which he has done since 10 July 2019. He has also retired as a Trustee. Taking over is Chris Tomlinson, who with Matthew was appointed as a Trustee on 10 July 2019. Matthew says:
“It has been a huge privilege to be involved in steering the growth and development of CCN over the past three years, building on the work that was done in the early days since CCN began in November 2018. What CCN does is train Volunteer Mentors to walk with men and women leaving prison in Norfolk to help them rebuild their lives. We have three first class members of staff, in Manager Mel Wheeler, Administrator Paula Callam and Mentor Co-Ordinator Abby Erwin. And we were delighted when in 2020 HM Lord-Lieutenant of Norfolk Lady Dannatt MBE accepted our invitation to become Patron of CCN. Currently we have 20 Mentors supporting 31 Clients. And it has been a real privilege to see the difference that, with others, CCN is able to make to the lives of individuals and their families and friends. We have been looking to extend and expand the profile of what I like to call ‘The CCN Family’ across Norfolk: with six monthly meetings of the Advisory Forum (which comprises representatives of a wide variety of Norfolk life); with quarterly network meetings of over 30 Charities and Agencies who also work with prison leavers; and through the Friends of CCN. Our finances and our governance are in good shape. I shall be remaining as a Mentor and a Member of the Advisory Forum. And I will be on hand to support Chris and his colleagues, as required – though without ‘getting in the way.”
And, from Chris Tomlinson, “It’s been wonderful to see CCN prosper under Matthew’s chairmanship and the CCN team. There are big boots to fill, but with God’s help I hope I can!”
Manager Mel Wheeler says “Matthew has been a superb Chair; his leadership and wisdom has taken this organisation to a new level. I very much look forward to working with Chris Tomlinson to write the next exciting chapter for CCN”.
